The Elantra family has three different powertrains. The standard gas-powered Elantra sports a 147-horsepower 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine that rates as high as 33/42 mpg city/highway. The sportier Elantra N ups the output to 201 hp with its 1.6-liter Turbo, garnering an estimated 28/36 mpg city/highway. Finally, Elantra Hybrid shares the N's 1.6-liter engine, but swaps out the turbocharger for an electric motor which results in a modest 139 horsepower, but with 195 pound-feet of torque and resulting in estimated fuel efficiency of 53/56 mpg city/highway.
