2025 Hyundai Sonata Oil Filter in Peoria, AZ

Yes—replace the oil filter at every oil change on a 2025 Hyundai Sonata.

This keeps debris from recirculating and prevents the bypass valve from sending unfiltered oil through the engine as the filter loads up. The manufacturer’s schedule and your driving conditions set timing, but pairing a new filter with fresh oil safeguards lubrication and wear protection. At Larry H. Miller Hyundai Peoria in Peoria, we install a filter matched to this engine and verify sealing and leaks after start-up.

• New, engine-matched filter installed at each oil change
• Prevents bypass operation and unfiltered oil flow
• Leak check and oil level recheck after the engine runs

The service includes draining oil, fitting a matched new filter, renewing sealing surfaces, refilling with the specified oil grade, and leak-checking after start-up.

Our technicians remove the used filter, clean the base, refresh the sealing ring, and torque components properly. After refilling, the engine is run to confirm oil pressure and inspect for leaks at the filter and drain point, then the level is rechecked. This restores both clean oil and proper flow through the 2025 Hyundai Sonata’s filtration system.

• Correct, model-appropriate filter installed
• Gasket and drain plug sealing addressed
• Post-service run-in and inspection performed

The filter can load up and open its bypass valve, letting oil circulate unfiltered and quietly increasing engine wear.

While oil still flows, it no longer passes through media that captures debris, so contaminants recirculate across bearings and cam surfaces. Over extended intervals, that accelerates wear and can shorten component life. Replacing the filter with the oil restores full filtration and helps maintain stable oil pressure and protection.

• Bypass valve allows unfiltered oil flow when loaded
• Debris and wear metals recirculate
• Increased wear without obvious warning signs

Yes—the filter is matched to this 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine and filters are not interchangeable across engines.

Correct fit ensures proper sealing, flow, and bypass calibration. Using a filter intended for another engine can compromise filtration or oil pressure. At Larry H. Miller Hyundai Peoria, we install a filter built for the 2025 Hyundai Sonata’s engine and confirm a proper seal and leak-free operation after start-up.

• Engine-matched filter for correct flow and sealing
• Bypass calibration appropriate to this engine
• Verified fitment and post-service inspection

It can be done, but it is not recommended because the used filter may be near bypass and will not restore full filtration.

Leaving the old filter in place risks circulating unfiltered oil if the media is loaded, which undermines the benefit of fresh oil. The better practice is to replace the filter with the oil so both protection and flow are reset together. If timing is uncertain, follow the manufacturer’s schedule and your service history.

• Old filter can trigger bypass and unfiltered flow
• New oil plus new filter restores full protection
• Follow schedule based on usage and history
